Neighborhoods, USA (NUSA) announced Port St. Lucie’s N.I.C.E. Neighborhood Involvement and Community Engagement, Grand Prairie’s Future Builders Program and Memphis’ This is Orange Mound won first-place awards in the respective categories of physical revitalization and social revitalization, during the 2018 Best Neighborhood Program Award Luncheon that was held Saturday, May 26 at the 43rd annual NUSA conference in Birmingham, Ala.
The City of Port St. Lucie’s Neighborhood Improvement & Community Engagement (N.I.C.E.) program was created as part of the City’s strategic goal to facilitate and support vibrant, thriving neighborhoods where citizens take pride, are engaged and dedicated to their communities.
Future Builders Program in Grand Prairie, Tex. is a partnership between The City of Grand Prairie Housing and Neighborhood Services Department and the Grand Prairie Independent School District (Construction Technology class) has constructed new homes to be dedicated for families who are part of the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) Homeownership Program.
In Memphis, Tenn., This is Orange Mound is a youth-led tour of the historic Orange Mound community that guides guests on a 125 year journey through the Orange Mound community with stirring reenactments of significant events and art.
